Cherry Pitter Tool That Also Pits Olives

Pitting cherries with a knife is slow, messy work. You cut each one in half, dig out the stone and end up with red juice all over your hands and the counter. A cherry pitter gets the pit out in one squeeze and leaves the cherry whole.

This one is a handheld squeeze tool with a curved purple handle. Set a cherry in the little cup, squeeze the handles together, and a steel plunger pushes the pit straight through and out the bottom. A spring opens the handles again so you can load the next one. Whole pitted cherries, one squeeze each, without stained fingers.

Pits olives too

It works as an olive pitter for larger olives that fit the cup, which is handy for tapenade, pasta and pizza toppings.

How to use it

  1. Wash the cherries and pull off the stems.
  2. Set a cherry in the cup, stem side up.
  3. Hold it over a bowl and squeeze firmly.
  4. Drop the pitted cherry into a second bowl and repeat.

Cherry juice squirts, so work over a bowl or in the sink, and wear an apron if you're doing a big batch.

Good for

Cherry pie, clafoutis, jam, smoothies, cocktails and a bowl of pitted cherries for the kids. It's also nice for removing pits from cherries before freezing them.

Care

Rinse it under running water right after use and push the plunger a few times to clear it. Let it dry before putting it away.

Cherry season is short, so it's worth having this ready before the first bag comes home. Add it to your cart, or see more fruit tools.
