Suction Cup Sponge Holder for Inside the Sink
A sponge lying at the bottom of the sink sits in dirty dishwater and food scraps, and one left on the counter leaves a puddle behind. A suction cup sponge holder lifts it onto the sink wall, standing upright so it can drain and dry.
This suction cup sponge holder is an in sink sponge holder: one large PVC suction cup sticks to the inside wall of your sink or to a smooth backsplash, and a clear U-shaped arch holds the sponge upright so it can drain and air out. It also holds a small bar of soap. It installs in seconds with no drilling and no adhesive, can be washed again and again, and is made of ABS and PVC. Choose green or red.
Surface guide: will a suction cup sponge holder stick?
| Surface | Works? | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Stainless steel sink wall | Yes | Degrease with dish soap and dry first |
| Ceramic or porcelain sink | Yes | Choose a flat area, not a curved corner |
| Glass or glazed tile backsplash | Yes | Mount in the middle of one tile, not over grout |
| Composite or granite sink (matte) | Sometimes | Test it first, slightly textured finishes can leak air |
| Textured tile, grout, wood, painted wall | No | Use a faucet caddy instead |
Why use a sink sponge holder inside the sink?
- Off the counter: the sponge drips back into the sink, so the counter stays dry.
- Out of the basin: mounted on the sink wall, the sponge stays above dishwater and food scraps.
- Faster drying: the arch keeps the sponge standing upright, so air reaches both sides instead of one side lying flat and wet.
- Small footprint: about 2.8 × 4.2 inches, it fits narrow and compact sinks.

How to install a suction cup holder so it stays put
- Pick a smooth, flat, non-porous spot from the surface guide above.
- Clean the spot with dish soap and water to remove grease, then dry it completely.
- Press the suction cup firmly against the surface for a few seconds.
- Wait a few minutes before loading the holder with a wet sponge.
If the holder slips after a while, remove it, wash the suction cup in warm water, dry the surface and press it on again.
Care tips
Wring out the sponge before putting it back, and rinse the holder regularly so soap residue does not build up. Replace kitchen sponges often, since moisture and food particles let bacteria grow even when the sponge drains well.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a good sponge holder for sink walls made of stainless steel?
Yes. Smooth stainless steel is one of the best surfaces for suction cups, as long as it is clean and dry when you mount the holder.
Can it hold dish soap bottles?
It is sized for a sponge or a small soap bar. Heavy bottles can pull the suction cup loose.
Faucet or suction cup: which is better?
Suction cup holders are ideal for mounting inside the sink. If you would rather hang it from the tap, see our kitchen sink caddy.
